What if the best thing you make this year isn’t beer?
Beyond Beer: Fermentation Gone Wild
On Monday, 5/18/2026, KLOB is diving into the world of **home fermentation** with a hands-on presentation focused on **hot sauces, pickles, and fermented foods** that are flavorful, inexpensive, and surprisingly easy to make at home.
Meeting held at Brewery Outré 567 E Ransom St, Kalamazoo, MI 49007 at 7:00 to 9:00 PM.
We’ll cover:
- Fermented pickles
- Homemade hot sauces
- Salt percentages and fermentation basics
- Ball jars vs vacuum bags
- How lactobacillus does the heavy lifting
- Flavor development, creativity, and experimentation
If you’ve ever looked at a jar of bubbling peppers or garlic dill pickles and thought *“I should try that someday”*... this is your sign.
The best part? You can get started with simple ingredients, basic equipment, and a few techniques that open the door to endless variations.
Whether you’re into brewing, cooking, gardening, smoking meats, or just love making things from scratch, this one connects all the dots.
Bring a friend, bring your curiosity, and come hungry for ideas.
As always, homebrew and fermented creations are welcome to share.
