March Meeting

This is a friendly reminder that we will be having our monthly meeting tonight at 7pm at Old Dog Tavern in downtown Kalamazoo. The presentation will be on hop growing given by two of our own experts, Jeff Steinman and David Kuipers. As we've done at the past two meetings, members are allowed to bring in homebrew to share.

If you are one of the many people who have not renewed your membership for 2012, Monday is your next opportunity to do so. Dues are just $15 so bring cash or check and we'll get you all squared away.

February Meeting

This is a friendly reminder that we will be having our monthly meeting this coming Monday, February 20th at 7pm at Old Dog Tavern in downtown Kalamazoo. The presentation will be on smoked-flavored and wood-aged beers by vice president Alex Mantakounis. Just as we did at the January meeting, members are allowed to bring in homebrew to share so if you have some good examples of these styles, this meeting will be the perfect time to sample them.

Holiday Meeting 2011: Barley Wine

It's that time of year again and we're planning another very special holiday meeting. The theme this year is barley wines and we will provide a wide variety of samples for this very intriguing style. The club will also provide a few snacks including bread, cheese and sausage. If you would like to bring in your own dishes to share, please don't hesitate. Also, if you have homebrew or other rare beers to share, feel free to bring those as well.

This is a friendly reminder that we will be meeting this Monday, November 21st at 7pm. We will be discussing the style of brown ales including their history, specifics of the style and the best methods to brew one of your own. The meeting will be held at Old Dog's Pub so, please, no outside beverages.

Roast 2011: Last Call

The 17th Annual KLOB Roast is just a few days away, this Saturday the 17th, starting at noon at Markin Glen Park in Kalamazoo. If you still haven't purchased your ticket, please get down to Tempo Vino Winery in downtown Kalamazoo tomorrow (Tuesday) so we can have an accurate head count for the folks at Q-It-Up. Plus, we are looking to also finalize our orders for T-shirts so they can all be ready for Saturday. If you already have your ticket, it's not too late to get a ticket for your friend, family member, co-coworker...anyone who loves good beer.

Michigan House Bill 4061, Roast 2011 and Bell's Homebrew Competition and Expo

Michigan House Bill 4061

The Michigan Senate will vote on Michigan House Bill 4061, otherwise known as "The Homebrew Law", sometime in the very near future. You can read all about the details below but the general summary is that this bill would allow clubs like ours to hold meetings, complete with our own homebrew, at local breweries and brewpubs.
